What is CORONA for that matter?...IS it a separate release?...

Well, I have added another harddisk as the slave harddisk on this
machine but the CDROM is still the slave, as I do see a slave marking
on the plastic strip on the mouth of the bus connector.

I did this as I thought the original 10GB is too little for 'modern'
OSes...What I did was I dabbled with FreeBSD, netbsd finally settling
for 'solaris 10' which I admit is kinda bloated for the U10.
Subsequenty, the slave harddisk was not detected by the solaris 10
installer as I suppose the freeBSD label was seemingly unreadable by
solaris 10 (the world's most advanced OS..duh!!)

I managed to somehow delete the label on the primary HDD by first over
writing netbsd on it and then using a netbsd command to delete the
label..(as I knew how to do that but i was clueless about deleting disk
labels in freeBSD and still am)

So here I am, the secondary HDD still has that some BSD's label on it
which sol 10 doesn't understand. Plus I still have the CDROM connected
at its default configuration place.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Best Regards,

Hello there,

I am trying to install aurora linux build 2,99 on my U 10. The OBP has
been
upgraded to 3,31. I get past the booting screen until the point where it
asks me from where would I like to install the distro on which I select
CDROM.

Then something unusual happens. It gives the following error message:
*Unable to find any device of the type needed for this installation
type.*
*Would you like to manually select your driver or use a driver disk.*
**
Has it been unable to detect my CDROM? When I select the manual option,
i
see a list which does not look like the list of CDROM manufacturers.
Rather
it looks more like the list of Video card drivers.

And one last piece of information, I am using a text based installer.

Would love to hear from you guys,

I had the same problem on my U5 (which I don't have any more) but recall
I might have had more success with Corona.
Definitely got Aurora 2.0 running so you might like to try that.
Also are your drives in the "standard" position i.e. hard disk as master
on first ide controller and the cdrom as slave on the second controller.
