Sorry, icedtea is a neat/easy way to build Open JDK... Unfortunately
it requires gcj with the generics extension... That's the part I was
unable to get working. On an x86 box it builds very easily...<br>

I am hoping when Aurora reach Fedora 7 - it will just be simple to
do... As Fedora 7 x86 works with icedtea - no issues...<br>

that the Solaris kernel is bloated?
I have an <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Enterprise</st1:place></st1:City>
420R (4x 450MHz, 4GB mem) and I had to wipe it and install Solaris 10
so I
could move up to JDK 5. I have noticed a huge difference in speed and
responsiveness. Solaris 10 drags @$$. I wish Sun would go ahead and
release Java in a self-bootstrapping form… But I understand perfectly
well why they are not in a hurry. I suspect that the biggest reason
people actually use Solaris is simply because that is the only way they
can run
