Hmm, this has not been going nearly as well as expected... I've just trashed a couple of really
straight-forward installs on my test box (ultra60, netinst FC9 iso from mirrors, minimal install,
known good hardware) which just doesn't want to play for some reason: if I don't get a 404 error
from the mirror (I've settled on ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de as it seems complete, fast and reliable,
and that problem's now gone away) I get weird disk mount errors and lots of warnings from LVM. Which
is odd, as I manually partition and don't use LVM. I'd remove the damn thing if it wasn't a mkinitrd
dep.
So, currently I seem to be too thick to even install FC9 properly, even though I've done all this so
many times before - I don't have much time to look into this (servers on fire off the shoulder of
Orion and all that) and was planning on spending what time I do have on the more interesting part of
the process, the update to rawhide via Dennis' instructions. Anyone got a fool-proof "this is how I
set up my sparc64 FC9 box" cheatsheet floating around in $HOME by any chance?
I'll even volunteer to update/redo the FAQ with an Aurora-Use-Latest-Build section eventually, once
I've got a handle on the process (where is Matthew Swabey when you need him?) but I just don't have
the time atm to sort through basic fails at the first hurdle, unfortunately.
Oops, install 3 just bailed at the silo prompt. I really am getting something badly wrong here I
guess. Or am I?
Any enlightenment much appreciated.
