Taking my standpoint from IRC to this more public venue...
Despite my hardline support for sparc32 for the past...uh, seven or so
years, I can live with this move. With no formal upstream but ourselves
(and maybe Debian if we're lucky), the bugs are quite likely to just get
worse and worse, and keeping them at bay is probably going to become more
of a full-time job. Only five of my 14 or so sparc systems are 32-bit,
and four of them haven't been powered on except to test them with
2.0/Corona in months. (And the one that has seen fairly active use is one
of Aurora's main sparc32 test boxes. And I'm already excluding the
sparc32 machines that won't even run a current-ish Linux anymore.)
Sad as it is, sparc32 is falling into the niche/hobbyist realm. Not much
that can be done to prevent it, short of ponying up the expertise.
