Well, I've got a pair of Ultra 10s that run as basic PHP and Perl
playgrounds for some of my programming attempts. I think they are both
Aurora 1.92. Both are running MySQL, one has sendmail just to send me
the crontab emails. One also runs the ntlmaps proxy to get me through
our windows based firewall for most trivial things. The greatest things
about those machines is having the Linux login for X sitting there on
Sun hardware. It is a vision of hope for the future!
Up until our office moved, the one had an uptime over a year, while the
one I use the most I had rebooted once for something. The only reason
the uptimes were less than when I completed the install was the
generator backup not carrying enough juice for the building when the
power went out over the weekend and the whole building experienced an
brown-out of sorts.
I do have my hands on a v880 that is killing me with Solaris 8 that I
would really really really like to migrate over to Linux. I wish I
could get Spot through the firewall to develop on it, but I don't have
any control over that and I'm pretty sure I'd be fired if I tried to
wheel that sucker out of the switch to ship it or put it on another
network.
Running Aurora on that would make my heart go pitter-patter. Quad CPUs,
4 gigs of ram, hot swappable RAID-5 with 250 gigs of SCSI power. I
guess I really am a dork.
