the java in 2.99 is gcj  its not a 100% drop in for suns java.  right now 
eclipse itself does not run.  I need to spend some time working out why and 
fixing it.  currently it takes about 8 hours to build on a T1000.  though its 
largely single threaded.   

As soon as i get some time i plan to work on getting OpenJDK built  using 
IcedTea  which is Red Hats work to get it in shape for release in RHEL and 
Fedora.
