[Aurora-sparc-user] Problems with VNC 4.1.2 on Aurora 1.0

Has anyone successfully built and used VNC 4.1.2 on Aurora 1.0?
I recently attempted this using vnc-4_1_2-unixsrc.tar.gz from vnc.com
and XFree86 4.2.1 source from xfree86.org with a patch from vnc source.
The build, using steps in the vnc source, took a few hours but went
without incident. However, subsequent connections to virtual displays
caused the machine to lock up requiring power cycle to release. VNC
configuration on this Aurora machine is identical to that of other RHEL
4 & RHL 9 machines on our network.
I'm thinking that the freeze may be caused by some difference between
the XFree86-4.2.1-13.73.23sparc source and that which I downloaded from
xfree86.org. If there was a difference, Xvnc executable and vnc.so
functions would not match the running X server.
If no one has built VNC 4.1.2 for Aurora 1.0, would success be more
likely using the "xc" tree from XFree86-4.2.1-13.73.23sparc?
I know that Aurora 2.0 has updated VNC package but we're not ready to
update this system yet. Aurora 1.0 has been stable for us. Until
recently, there has been no compelling reason to upgrade it. I do plan
to move to Aurora 2.0 within the next few months but, until then, I'd
like to get VNC 4.2.1 on it if possible.
Thanks!
