[Aurora-sparc-user] New Aurora v2 install Ok on Ultra2 - but boot fails at "mount Openprom"

HI All,

This is my first net post ever, albeit I'm no longer a youngster ... so pls be gentle, okay? ;-)

I've recently completed a fresh install of Aurora v2 on a Sun Ultra Enterprise 2, which was not without some partitioning challenges - solved largely due to the kind posts of many unselfish souls.

In case this is considered useful information, this SUN platform has dual UltraSPARC II CPU's runninf at 400MHZ, 1.28 GB of memory and OBP 3.25.

I'd like to boot the OS now and customise it, however the boot process "freezes" any further boot progress immediately after the "mounting OpenProm" statement, which is quite early in the boot cycle, and I am left with what appears to be an underscore cursor (non-blinking) at the top-left edge of my monitor. Not even a "Stop-A" is able to interupt this condition.

Several refined Google-searches don't seem to even come tantalyzingly close to hinting at a possible suggestion.

As a relative Linux beginner, I'm hoping someone on this list has a combination of decent OBP and Linux skills to direct my efforts towards a rewarding solution which I can then document to help others avoid this pitfall.

Thanks in advance to those who kindly offer their opinion.

Cheers,
Dave.
