[Aurora-sparc-user] qlogicpti module on aurora 2.0 beta2
installation

Greetings Aurora Users!
My brother gave me an RS214 (I think) 7 bay array with 9.1GB drives in it,
and I bought a qlogic PTI ISP SBUS SCSI differential card for $9 to drive it
with my SS5. I tried to install aurora2.0b2 using CD on the SS5 (170 with
160MB) of ram, but got a kernel panic whenever I had the raid array powered
up with the drives installed. No error resulted if I pulled all the drives
out -- the installation program loaded the qlogic driver, immediately
followed by the esp driver.
I tried insmod-ing the qlogic module on my existing SS4 aurora2.0b2
installation, but it also paniced the kernel whenever the harddrives were
powered on -- although I did get to see the text of the kernel panic. I got
a little icon giving me a rasberry, then lots of trash that was
unintelligible to me.
Here's the bottomline -- the array works fine in debian sparc,
2.4.27-2-sparc32 kernel. I can access every drive; seems to be stable. I
would infinitely prefer aurora, but I don't want to do without this cool
raid array (my wife says it's not noisy enough in the server closet yet).
Is there a problem with the qlogicpti driver in the red hat source tree, or
is it a 2.6 kernel incompatibility? Does anyone have any intel on this one?
Thanks in advance!
Doug Cox
