[Aurora-sparc-user] Problems with yum upgrade has left my machine

Hi all,

I’ve been running Aurora Beta2.0 on my Ultra 10 (333MHz UltraSPARCIIi with 128MB RAM and 20GB HDD) for around 6 months now. It’s been working as my mail and web server as well as my network router and development platform. Lots of work for a little box, but once I got past the prelinking issues it’s been plain sailing.

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to the final release of 2.0 so I used yum to upgrade the system. All the downloads and transaction tests went through fine, but when it came to the installs, I got this;

At this point I killed the Yum process, but any commands result in either a “Bus Error” or a segfault. I can’t make new SSH connections but old ones are still up. I have most of my data backed up, but I have email on the system I’d like to retrieve and also a lot of work has gone into configuring things like webmail, VPN and routing. Is this system fixable? I’m okay with Linux, but not an expert. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

If I have to flatline the box and reinstall using the new 2.0 isos, would it be better to install to another HDD and then mount this one and copy the data/configs off to the new disk?

Many thanks in advance.

Dave
