well, simply adding spot's sparc patch (not sparc specific, though)
from libpng-1.2.7-1sparc.src.rpm's spec file to
libpng-1.2.8-1.fc3.src.rpm's spec file (thus, also  building a new
src.rpm), all worked out fine.
